Better for Praise

Monaghan, Ireland. 2009 - 2010

Drumsnat in County Monaghan, Ireland, gets it name from the Irish ‘Druim Sneachta’ which means ‘Snow Ridge’. According to legend the 6th Century Irish Abbot Saint Molua prayed one summer day for guidance as to where he should found his first monastery; it is said that it then began to snow on the hills surrounding the lake before him, thus giving the location its name and Molua a location for his monastery.  It is believed Molua founded his monastery on a small hill overlooking the lake, which is now a graveyard. The photographs in this series were made in Drumsnat and its surrounding environs. The title is taken from a Robert Frost poem My November Guest.
